Brandonn Baez
Youth Ambassador STOMP Out Bullying™
Brandonn Baez, was born in Yonkers, NY and rasied in the Bronx. He is 15 years-old and and attends school in Westchester County, NY.
Brandonn likes playing video games, good food, traveling, swimming and reading about American History. He considers himself very lucky to have traveled to other states, as well as the Caribbean Islands. Traveling has been a wonderful experience for Brandonn. He has met many people of different cultures which has helpedhim to understand the way others live. It really makes him appreciate his life.
In fourth grade Brandonn realized that he was being bullied and didn't even know it. He thought bullying was just hitting but found out it was much more than that. The abuse continued and he finally had the courage to tell his mom. At first, he didn't want to tell her because he didn't want her to worry. He tried to handle it on his own but it became too overwhelming.
Brandonn never got in a fight or argument in school so when he was attacked and hurt badly, it was the worst feeling in the world. He was so angry that he was full of hatred and revenge. But he know that violence was not the answer, yet he continued let someone humiliate and violate him. He had the choice of changing schools but decided to stay at the same school because his friends were there and he liked his teachers. Bullying seems to be everywhere you go and for Brandonn. running was not an option.
Brandonn wants to make a difference when it comes to bullying because it's an epidemic. Last year at school he was asked to be part of the school newspaper, and agreed because he wants other students to know that they are not alone by writing about bullying and helping them. Being bullied lasted for several years and now his friends at school treat him with respect. He refuses to let anyone bully him again and is proud to be the one and only Youth Ambassador for STOMP Out Bullying™.
